Essay Topics
The first draft was awful. Panicked two days before the Penn ED deadline, deleted the first essay and wrote my second, and final, draft at 3am on a Wednesday. Ended up being one of my best pieces of writing, brought multiple people to tears (Wrote about overcoming Aspergers).
- University of Pennsylvania
- Performance/Outcome: Great experience with the interviewer. Started off rough but transitioned the interview well. Ended up talking for 90+ minutes over Skype at 9pm.
- Stanford University
- Performance/Outcome: Horrible. Guy told me he had no friends from Stanford, I was a below-average applicant, talked about other applicants that were "better than me". This interview made me glad I didn't get in.
Creative Writing Teacher
Loved my writing style/how risky I was willing to be on graded assignments. Asked me to participate in poetry contests/use my writing as examples. Became close and was a very passionate writer/teacher = 7-8/10
AP Stats Teacher
Put no effort in at the beginning of the year, but realized how much I loved stats and became an extremely active student. Later told her that her class ignited my passion for business and working with numbers. Did well in her class and liked me as a student = 7/10
AP Environmental Teacher
Loved the subject, actively participated in class, related well with the teacher on an individual level. I don't know how great of a writer they are, but definitely liked me as a student and person = 7-6/10
High School Swim Coach
Changed me as a person as he worked with me over the 4 years. Watched me grow as a person, student, and athlete. Worked with him while team managing girls, participating in guys swim, and special Olympics. Tailored my letter to business and emphasized leadership = 9.5-10/10
