Essay Topics
Wrote about working at a local hardware store and how it changed the way that I interacted with people, leading me to found my political club. The teacher who revised it really liked it. I put a ton of time into editing it, went pretty well.
- Harvard University
- Performance/Outcome: This was my first interview. Was pretty awkward and we struggled to form a connection. He liked me though and liked my political club.
- Georgetown University
- Performance/Outcome: Had a solid talk, and he liked my ECs a lot. Said that Georgetown would be a really good fit.
- Princeton University
- Performance/Outcome: This was a really good interview, the guy said I'd be a great fit and that he hoped I'd get in. Was a lawyer and enjoyed my politics angle.
- University of Pennsylvania
- Performance/Outcome: Also a lawyer, we really hit it off and bonded over liking hiking. Spent about half of the interview just chatting, overall really solid.
- Dartmouth College
- Performance/Outcome: He liked me a lot, but the interview was really awkward and stunted. Told me that he wanted me to get in though.
- Yale University
- Performance/Outcome: Good talk, but it was mostly him reminiscing about his college days. Law background helped out here, and said that he wanted me to get in.
- Columbia University
- Performance/Outcome: This was an insanely good interview. We bonded over me being published in the newspaper she works for and discussed her reasons for choosing Columbia. This interview was a big part of the reason that Columbia grew to be a top choice for me.
Counselor
We're pretty close and she likes me a lot. Probably less personal than my other letters, but still should have been solid.
English Teacher
Had him two years, became pretty close. He writes a ton of letters, so probably less effort, but we hit it off really well and built a strong connection. Counselor told me it was a strong letter.
Spanish Teacher
I've had her for 3 years, her and I have bonded a ton, definitely a glowing letter.
Social Studies Teacher
I've had this teacher 2 years; he is also the Model UN coach and an advisor for NHD projects in the past. Him and I get along really well and have a great back-and-forth, told me that he mentioned my incessant politics talk, should have been great.
