Common App Essay

Wrote about losing an officer election and how much I had dedicated to the club, ending with self-reflection about making an impact without an officer position.

northwestern university — Supplemental

Discussed worldview and connection to NU, their econ/polisci program, and clubs for community help.

Interview Experiences
  • Northwestern University
  • Performance/Outcome: It was a really interesting interview. Some questions included: "If your principal were to put you on a student board to make policies for the school, what's one policy you would create?" and "If you were a tour guide and I was a tourist, where would you take me in your city?"
Letters of Recommendation
  • AP Lang Teacher

Her rec letters are the most competitive in the school and we built a strong relationship through junior year. I TA for her this year but her rec letter for me was already done by the time I started TAing.

  • Speech and Debate Coach

I didn't want to ask another teacher because I wanted to provide a different view of myself. In 5 years, I was the only junior who was an officer and after losing the election for President senior year, he created and offered me the role of event captain liaison.
